Um an interesting little vampire book! I don't know what to say. It wasn't fantastic. It wasn't terrible. There were good parts that I enjoyed, and then there were parts that were just whatever. There was never a time where I was disliking it though, so that's good. The writing was good, so nothing really against King there, it's just that the story wasn't for me I suppose. This book had sooooo many characters and he did a good job putting in little cues when names came up to remind me who the heck each person was.
A nice little thing that happened to me while reading 'Salem's Lot that's only happened once, was that I actually got a wee ickle bit scared at one part. Let me poorly set the scene:
I'm home alone in my house, and all the lights are off except for where I'm sitting at our dinner table. So I'm reading... reading... reading... then all of a sudden I hear a small noise to my left, and I quickly swivel my neck and stare at the corner where I thought I heard the noise. Of course there was nothing to be seen. Just the house trying to say hello. But in that second, I felt a wave of just pure uneasiness and... how to describe it? Not really terror or fright per say, but along those lines. And it was all because I was reading this dear book, with it's vampires and spooks and such.
So anyway I thought that was pretty cool how that happened, seeing as books never seem to be able to truly get me frightened, this was a step in the right direction. :)
this was my first Stephen King novel, and I am very much looking forwards to reading more in the future!
