3.5 stars? 4?
This was a really important volume. A lot of things got explained, and a lot of it was content that never made it on screen.
Basically the whole volume was new content in regards to the anime. There were little scenes here and there that did make it to the anime. There's lots of Juzo in the volume which is nice for me since I like him. His stiches get explained which I appreciated since I was always a bit confused by them. He also gets the whoooooooollee she-bang about kagune explanded to him which was never in the anime. This was even better and even more important cut information. But the real kicker, we finally see what happens after Kaneki gets kidnapped by the Aogiri-Tree fuckers.
In the anime, Kaneki just gets kidnapped then poof all of a sudden he's being tortured by Jason. Little did I know, there's actually a SHIT TON that happens in between those two events. I might not even know all of it yet, since we don't see him being tortured by Jason in this volume. Though I'd venture that that's how volume 7 will open.
So yeah, I just found it interesting how much they cut out. Some info and then the whole escapade at the Aogiri headquarters. Actually I don't remember if it was their actual headquarters or just some other building they took over... Who knows. Anyway I guess it's not too bad, what they cut out. Just missed some action is all. It was definitely great for me. I was really craving new content and after six volumes it finally delivered.
Seeing how things were going I actually thought the Season One finale was going to be at the end of this volume. Then the scenes that were cut out happened, but I'm confident it's going to happen in the next volume. I mean, just look at the cover. Hype. I'm actually pretty excited.
