My rating: 3 of 5 stars
While reading this it quickly became apparent to me that this comic is not going to be for everyone. The main character is a
As a stand-alone this first volume is not much. It introduces us to our main character Lottie Person and her life and “struggles”. It’s about the really hard-hitting problems in our modern society such as allergies, break-ups, boyfriend stealing bitches, outfit stealing bitches, shitty friend bitches, merking bitches, hot bitches, not bitches; The whole works, really. It’s all quite vain, as you can see, so if whiny rich kids (she’s actually 25 and three quarters years old) aren’t your style you might get annoyed at this.
Lottie never bothered me, I found it interesting to observe just how extremely shallow she could be. She was an interesting character to me, and I can see the potential that she has to grow.
I’ve also seen people complain that this volume had no plot, and where they might be slightly on the right track, I’m not in complete agreeance. Several conflicts were set up (view spoiler) , so it’s not like the story seems like it’s going nowhere. I’m actually really intrigued to see what is going to happen in later volumes, where these conflicts are going to lead and and how Lottie’s relationships with different people are going to develop.
In regards to the art, it was quite nice looking, no complaints there.
I found this volume interesting for these reasons. Only three stars for now since three stars means "liked it" and that I did. I do forsee my rating rising in later volumes when everything that is being set up in this volume actually starts coming to fruition.
