Review: The Outsider

The Outsider The Outsider by Albert Camus
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Literally don't know what to say about this. I very much don't have anything to say about it. I don't really have any thoughts about it. Those last two sentences were probably redundant.

Going into this I thought I would hate the indifference of the main character, but I ended up really not minding. The last sentence of the book is badass. Yeah.

Review: Bitter Witness: Otto Dix and the Great War

Bitter Witness: Otto Dix and the Great War by Linda F. McGreevy My rating: 0 of 5 stars This is a very unique and interesting academic text. There are no other examinations of the German artist Otto Dix, his war experience, and his war-related art that are quite as in-depth as this one, while also covering a wide range of different aspects and angles of not only the artist's story, but also the Great War's. I used this as a source for a University research essay I wrote on the effects of Dix's war experience on the creation and effects of his painting Skat Players (1920). I was very late in starting my research so I unfortunately had to stick to only reading the information I could use for my own examination, rather than being able to devour this book in its entirety. However, the library requires this book be returned at the end of January of next year, so I have some time now to actually finish this book since the semester has finished...

Review: Miki Falls, Volume 1: Spring

Miki Falls, Volume 1: Spring by Mark Crilley My rating: 4 of 5 stars I can’t lie, I did not have very high expectations going into this book. That’s probably because I always can’t help but fear the worst whenever I read something written by someone I’m familiar with, whether it be a friend, an author whose book(s) I’ve read before, or in this case, someone whose YouTube videos I had begun watching in grade 5. Those videos are the reason I bought this series, but I’ve been apprehensive to read them for a while now for the aforementioned reason, and also because this is Crilley’s first manga venture and I knew that the art was going to be a bit… Off. I can’t say that I was wrong about the art, but as for the rest of the book I was happily surprised.
