My rating: 5 of 5 stars
The first time I read this (circa grade 7) I really didn't like this book. There was nothing memorable about it besides the fact that it was incredibly boring. I reread it to get ready for the movie (which my dad's work booked out a theater for us to watch it on opening day) and wow it was awesome! Though reread would technically be false since I only really read the first few chapters, and listened to the rest via audiobook.
At not one second during my listening did I ever feel bored. It was exciting and all the twists were shocking even though I still had a hazy recollection that they we're going to happen. So either my younger self had a shorter attention span, or I just never got bored because I was always doing something while listening to the book, so I couldn't get bored? I don't think it's the latter because thinking back on the story specifically, I enjoyed all of it. Some people complain about how the beginning is slow and katniss is all complaining all the time, but I honestly never minded at all. It never really stuck out at me as a problem or anything significant at all.
One thing I do agree with people is that the end really is a tad rushed, and upon finishing it I was really feeling like... What...? Okay... Overall it was a great experience and I cannot wait for the movie! Even thought I have a big Biology test the day before it! *cries internally *
