Miss Peregrine's: The Graphic Novel! Wow! What a fun time! I might have enjoyed this more than I enjoyed the actual book it's based on. It might have been that the novel was way over-hyped, and that's why when I finished it I felt a bit underwhelmed. Going into this I had absolutely no expectations whatsoever! It surprised me the second I opened the book.
By the cover I never thought that the art style would be so manga-y. So that got my attention a bit. But as I read farther into the book, the art started to erk me more and more. It's SO messy to the point where it even looks lazy at times. There's this big reveal where we see the house for the first time and it's supposed to be epic, but all there is on the page is a bunch of scribbles and wayward lines. Not impressed. The art does get better by the end though, which was nice. I think the colouring helped tone down the lazy look of it. I do feel though that the art might have purposely been really sketchy to symbolize the sketchyness of the situation. But who knows?
I also felt that some parts weren't shown well enough. Like that if I didn't already know what was supposed to happen I would have been really confused. So, people who haven't read the original novel: beware.
Apart from those details I really liked this book. Though most of my praise goes to Ransom Riggs of course, for thinking up this nice story. I'm giving this the same rating as I gave the original, for they both have their ups and downs.
