They said it was good... they weren't kidding.
Wow what a fun time this was! I've been meaning to pick this up since last year, so this was quite the momentous occasion. We started studying myths in English class, a few of them being Greek in origin. These myths were the final poke to get me on this bandwagon!
I'm really glad I had read those myths (The Beginning of Everything, The Myth of Sisyphus, and The Four Ages) before starting this series because they really provided some good background information. I understood a lot of the references and was even able to guess some outcomes because of my mythological knowledge! So I don't think it would hurt for you to read those myths if you're the one person who hasn't hopped on the Percy Jackson bandwagon but are planning to. In fact, I would encourage it.
Anyway, this book was great. It kept me entertained the whole time, and it was a nice quick read. Especially since I had read two classics prior to this... and let me tell you those were some slow as frick books. Can't wait to read more!!!
