Omg!!!
I really feel like spamming this review with shocked-reaction-face gifs, but I hate when people do that so I will spare you, dear reader.
But like for real though!!! Your girl is shook! Both me, and Kae!!!!! Oh my god!!! I can’t handle it.
Okay, breathe. I’m freaking out about the end of the volume, but let’s go back to the top.
The volume starts off after the ending of the last volume where a new character was hinted. Well we find out who he is!! I really can’t say anything more without entering hard spoilers so, see ya! But I’ll leave you off with this: DON’T READ THE BACK COVER!!! It spoils who the new character is so you don’t get the shock of finding out yourself. I was actually so lucky I literally stopped reading the back cover like two words before it spoiled me, just because I got bored, lol. I was like, “Whatever, I’ll just read the manga to see what happens, I don’t need to read the back cover.” BY GOD WAS I RIGHT.
(view spoiler)[Oooommggg (again). I actually really really liked Takeru!!! It’s them Japanese boys with brown hair, you know? They just get me. Also the pointy eyes. Omg. The pointy eyes are a definite hard-hitter, even on 3D boys. I was thinking about it while I was reading, and it was super shocking, but he even beat Igarashi as my best boy and OTP with Kae. I’ve got you shook, I know. I was also there.
This literally ALWAYS happens with me, I always like pairing the main character of any media up with the non-pre-selected love interest. So whenever there’s like another friend or a new friend or something I always end up shipping the main character with them over the actual love-interest that the author is trying to force on me. I don’t necessarily mind this, but it does always end in my heartbreak. :(
So I was shipping KaexTakeru super hard y’all! But when it was Takeru versus Igarashi in soccer, come on now, in that situation my loyalty obviously still lied with best-boy Igarashi. And it was bullshit when Takeru was able to get past Igarashi!! Igarashi has been playing soccer like everyday since he was out the womb, how could this voice actor possibly even be a slight matchup against him, nevermind actually besting him??? Fake.
And then it is revealed that poor little Takeru is a weak little baby who Kae has to always take care of. You know, it obviously came to mind that he was possibly faking it, but I had enough faith in Takeru to believe he wouldn't do that. :/ I spent his whole introduction trying to read into his facial expressions to see if he was going to secretly be a bad guy, but he fooled me. Well played, Junko, very well played.
So Takeru going totally insane and evil was, uh, unexpected. I feel like, on the one hand this was an obvious conclusion, like there’s no way you could actually add such an OP guy to the harem this late into the game, so he HAD to go evil for the plot’s sake. But on the other hand, this is what I was thinking while I was reading: That Junko would literally do just that!!! I was totally fine with that!!!! Which boy in the harem would Kae pick? NONE OF THEM, AHAHAHA!!! This way no one gets left out (in that everyone gets left out), and all of our best boys can be left to us for the picking >:). I was literally so down with KaexTakeru you have no idea. (Igarashi and Nana have been inducted into the hall of fame, heehee.)
But yenno, even though Junko introduced and then defected the new best boy in this one volume, I ain’t mad. I’m here for the juicy story and drama and boy did I get JUICY STORY AND DRAMA!!! (Also it was hilarious as always, thank you.) I’m excited to see how this plays out and how the harem deals with this scandalous turn of events. Also hell yeah, Senpai shone this volume! He is so nice and then had that badass, “Stop… I have one more question… And then you can kill him,” (paraphrased) moment, that was great. I normally don’t really root for Senpai because I don’t like his hair (I know--shoot me) but his space in my heart definitely grew a little. (hide spoiler)]I need the next volume SO BADLY. It’s literally already published in English so it’s not like I have to wait for it to be released or anything, it’s just that, yenno, I’m not a money dispenser. Soon!!!!!!
