My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Watching the Netflix adaptation of Death Note made me want to read the original, so now here I am. Earlier today I just wanted to take a peek through this first volume of the manga but it was so engrossing that I accidentally went ahead and read the whole thing. Priorities? Responsibilities? I have no idea what those words mean while engrossed in the world of Death Note!
So yeah this is a pretty good series. I watched the anime back when it came out (a million years ago) so I'm happy to reaquaint myself with this story, but this time in my preferred medium: The beloved paperback.
I won't be writing proper reviews for every volume because I think the best way to experience this series is in one fell swoop, so there's no point in me writing them or you reading them. If you want to read something then just read the series. Once I've made my way through all the books I'll update this with a series review. Until then, I leave you with a quote from one of my all-time favorite mangakas:
"Is it okay to draw Shinigami? Won't I be cursed for doing this? I draw this manga with fear and trembling." -Takeshi Obata
