My rating: 3 of 5 stars
This might have been the fastest read out of the whole series. I feel like I just read it and then it was over. Not much actually happened. Flipping through the book, it's pretty much just the end. The whole thing is the end.
We finally found out exactly what was up with the penny murderer. (view spoiler) To sum up the spoiler section, I was somewhat dissatisfied with some aspects, but I at least liked the motivation.
The end (the actual end-end) was kind of... I don't know. Maybe a little bit rushed? I know Crilley wanted it to seem open, but I thought it was just kind of meh.
This review seems pretty negative, but over all this is a pretty good series. I never really had much expectations for it but it turned out pretty good. I can't wait to read what Mark Crilley comes up with next.
I always like reading a good afterward after I finish reading a book to really help wrap everything up. Few authors write anything more than just a list of names and thank yous, but there have been a few afterwords I've read that were really touching. Mark Crilley is one of those people who really knows how to write a great afterword.
