My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Before starting this volume I must admit that I had to flip through the last book because I didn’t remember what was going on in the story. Once I did, I was really surprised that I was able to go on so long without continuing with the story because book 3 really ended on a cliffer. These books are quite the enticing, fast-paced reads.
There wasn’t really much humor in this volume, but that was okay because it was good anyway. I found myself thinking about how superficial (cough, nonexistent) the killer’s motivations were while I was reading the beginning of this volume, but we did end up finally getting some much needed insight into that. We also learn more of Talia’s backstory, so that was nice.
A big part of this volume was character interactions. Flipping through my book, that’s pretty much all there is, actually. Brody vs. Talia, Brody vs. Landon, Brody and Gabe, and Brody and Nicole. And then that’s the book. It might seem like I’m complaining here, but it was all done well and it all moved the story along nicely. I’m finding myself extremely eager to pick up the next volume right away.
Do I even need to talk about the art? It's good, and the backgrounds and two-page spreads are beyond impressive. Seeing the way he chooses the layouts for his panels, it's quite clear that Crilley knows exactly what he's doing.
